One day after authorities released surveillance images and video tied to a potential suspect in Nancy Guthrie‘s disappearance, a new and unexpected message surfaced. This latest note does not appear to come from the alleged kidnappers.

TMZ reports that they have received a new note demanding money, but this time the request appears to come from someone claiming to have information rather than from the alleged kidnappers. Here’s what we know about it:

The latest note received by TMZ does not appear to be from the alleged kidnappers. Instead, the sender claims to have information about the individual responsible for Nancy’s disappearance and is demanding payment in exchange for that name.

The message, sent just before 5 a.m. PT, states: “If they want the name of the individual involved, then I want 1 Bitcoin to the following wallet. Time is more than relevant.”

The note includes a Bitcoin wallet address that is different from the one listed in the original ransom message sent to Tucson media outlets.

One Bitcoin is currently valued at about $66,000, which exceeds the $50,000 reward law enforcement is offering for information leading to Nancy’s kidnappers.

The message has been forwarded to the FBI as investigators continue reviewing tips and leads.

Medical Helicopter Lift-Off Sparked Questions

On February 10, breaking developments unfolded in the search for Nancy as SWAT team members were spotted in Rio Rico late Tuesday. CBS reported that Multiple law enforcement vehicles moved through the area, drawing attention from nearby residents.

The visible escalation signals that investigators are actively working leads on the ground as the case intensifies. Around the same time, SWAT vehicles were seen heading out, and a medical helicopter also took off from the area.

An air ambulance from St. Mary’s Hospital on Tucson’s west side was tracked en route to Tucson Medical Center in midtown.

Such flights occur several times per day, and officials have not confirmed whether the helicopter activity is connected to the investigation. Journalist Ford Hatchett of ABC15 in Phoenix confirmed that the air ambulance activity was not related to the Nancy Guthrie case.

Person Detained in Rio Rico During Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Investigation

Officials said the individual was stopped “during a traffic stop” and then detained in Rio Rico. The Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the questioning but declined to provide additional details.

Images shared with CNN showed several law enforcement vehicles parked along a Rio Rico roadway as activity at the scene intensified.

No charges were announced; however, later, The New York Times and other outlets reported that the individual taken in for questioning had been released.

Later, the man who said he was detained for questioning in connection with the case described the experience as frightening and overwhelming.

As per NBC, speaking to reporters outside his home, which was searched by police, the 27-year-old delivery driver said, “Terrifying—something I didn’t do. I felt like I was being kidnapped, bro. They didn’t tell me anything.”

He said officers pulled him over near his home, questioned him about his whereabouts and workplace, and took his phone. When asked whether he had ever delivered a package to Guthrie’s house, he replied, “I don’t know, it might have been a possibility.”

According to the man, investigators focused on him because they believed his eyes resembled those of the masked individual seen in doorbell camera footage released by the FBI.

“All I know is they showed my in-law a picture of somebody wearing a mask or something, and it supposedly looked like my eyes,” he said, NBC reported.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department did not confirm the release or identify the person involved and declined to comment when quizzed by the media overnight.

FBI Releases Security Images of Masked Individual

Earlier in the day, the FBI made public security photos and video of a possible subject in the case involving the disappearance of the mother of “TODAY” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.

The four still images appear to capture a person wearing gloves, a mask, and a backpack.

The individual is positioned near the front door of Nancy’s home and appears to be tampering with a security camera on the morning she disappeared.

FBI Director Kash Patel said the potential subject is armed. The decision to release the images marks a notable development in the investigation and signals heightened urgency.

Authorities continue to describe the investigation as active and ongoing.
