He has been released on bail to next appear at Manchester Youth Court on 24 February 2026.

Police previously said the e-scooter came to a rest on a third vehicle.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and Jacob was then taken to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, where he was kept under sedation on an intensive care ward for eight days.

His mother Carly has since been campaigning for a change in the law to introduce stricter legislation for e-scooters, especially for riders aged under 18.

Paying tribute to her son, she described Jacob as ‘very loving, headstrong, and a cheeky chappy’.

‘He knew what he wanted in life and he was always going to go for it,’ she told the BBC.

Following his death, wellwishers raised more than £5,800 for the North West Air Ambulance in Jacob’s memory.
