BREAKING: Detained Subject Identified in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department detained a man for questioning in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.

A man was later identified as Carlos by a woman claiming to be the mother-in-law of the detained individual during an on-air interview with CNN, and later with News Nation.

“In Rio Rico, Texas near Mexico where subject was detained,” reporter Brian Entin shared via X on Tuesday evening. “Just talked to his family and they say he was delivering DoorDash when he was pulled over.”

He later added, “Just spoke with the mother-in-law of the man who is detained. She owns the house and says there’s an ongoing search warrant and they took all of their electronic devices. She insists her son-in-law is not involved.”

The woman who claimed to be the subject’s mother-in-law explained that her home was being searched by authorities, but denied having any connection to the Nancy Guthrie case.

“They told me that they had somebody gave a tip that [Nancy Guthrie] was in my house,” she told CNN. “We don’t know her at all. I don’t know who she is. I don’t know anything about her. They only said that they [got] a tip that she was in my house. I told them, ‘You can go in and search the house. There’s nobody there. I have nothing to hide. There’s nobody in my house, and I don’t know what’s going on.’”

According to the woman, her son-in-law works in the Tucson area as a delivery driver, though she was unsure of the company he delivers for.

“My daughter and him and my grandkids were doing DoorDash when they got stopped here,” the woman told News Nation. “I don’t know what kind of questions they asked him. But when we got home we found out that they took my son out.”

Pima County Sheriff Detain a Man Near Mexico Border

After 10 days of searching for the 84-year-old, authorities seemingly have a break in the case of Nancy Guthrie’s abduction.

“Earlier today, Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies detained a subject during a traffic stop South of Tuscon. The subject is currently being questioned in connection to the Nancy Guthrie investigation,” the department revealed on Tuesday.

Hours earlier, the FBI released never-before-seen photos and videos of an apparent suspect after unearthing footage from Guthrie’s doorbell camera.

“Law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance,” FBI Director Kash Patel shared Tuesday.

The footage shows a masked man tampering with Guthrie’s camera. He appears to have facial hair poking through the mouth hole of his ski mask. The man was seemingly armed with a gun tucked into a holster at the front of his pants. He wore gloves, a jacket and a backpack in the footage from the early morning hours of Sunday, February 1.
