“DWTS Chaos: Whitney & Jordan Stun Judges Before Heartbreaking Elimination Shakes Ballroom”?

Dancing With the Stars fans were changed for good during the show’s first-ever Wicked Night. To celebrate the upcoming release of Wicked: For Good, the remaining couples danced to hits from the beloved Broadway show and film adaptation. Director Jon M. Chu served as guest judge for the Week 6 performances.

Since no one went home at the end of Dedication Night, one Season 34 couple was eliminated on Wicked Night. Who defied gravity in the ballroom this week and danced to the top of the leaderboard? Which couple bid farewell to the competition? Scroll down for a recap of the night’s performances, scores, and who was sent home.

Ahead of the performances, the pros came together for an epic ensemble routine to Wicked hits after a special introduction from Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, our very own Elphaba and Glinda. Derek Hough even got in on the action during the “Dancing Through Life” segment!

Julianne Hough, Robert Irwin and Witney Carson on 'Dancing With the Stars' Wicked Night

Scott Hoying — 28/40

Scott Hoying and Rylee Arnold kicked off the night with a contemporary to “The Wizard and I.” Chu started off by declaring this the “best season of Dancing With the Stars ever.” While he wished the transitions had been “cleaner,” Chu told Hoying that he “swept” him away to Oz. Bruno Tonioli commended Hoying on his “determination,” but he advised the singer to control the passion a little more. Hough added onto Chu’s note about Hoying and Arnold’s transitions. He urged them to “think about making [the transitions] more seamless” moving forward. Hoying earned all 7s from the judges.

Alix Earle — 35/40

Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy channeled the early days of Glinda and Elphaba for a jazz performance to “What Is This Feeling?” Tonioli raved over Earle’s “delicious” performance. “It wasn’t your most difficult dance, but it was your best dance,” Carrie Ann Inaba declared. Both Hough and Chu praised Earle for disappearing into the storytelling this week. Earle and Chmerkovskiy earned 9s from the main trio of judges and an 8 from Chu.

Robert Irwin — 36/40

Robert Irwin, a Wicked superfan, and Witney Carson dazzled with a charming jazz routine to “Dancing Through Life.” Inaba was stunned over how “ambitious” the performance was and gave Carson a shoutout for showcasing her partner “in the most beautiful way.” Hough told Irwin, “I think you need to change out your hiking boots for Broadway shoes. You were meant to be on stage.” Tonioli called the performance a “joyful theatrical treat.” Irwin and Carson received all 9s from the judges.

Whitney Leavitt — 39/40

Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas wowed with a super-fast quickstep to “Popular.” A stunned Hough told the ballroom, “I feel like we are discovering a star before our eyes.” He was amazed by the “complicated routine.” Chu called the performance the “perfect blend of technical prowess and just art.” Tonioli stood up and yelled, “That was insane! Insanely good!” Leavitt and Ballas took the competition to a new level by getting the first 10s of the season from Inaba, Chu, and Tonioli. Hough gave the pair a 9.

Dylan Efron — 32/40

Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach brought the heat with their rumba to “I’m Not That Girl.” Chu noticed how connected Efron was during the performance and said this was the “kind of masculinity in dance that we need.” Tonioli gushed over how “sensuous” the routine was, but he pointed out a section of the performance where Efron “lost” his hips. Inaba made note of a few mistakes, but she made sure to admire the “magic” between Efron and Karagach. The pair received 8s across the judges’ tables.

Andy Richter — 27/40

Andy Richter and Emma Slater took a trip to the Emerald City with their delightful jazz to “One Short Day.” Tonioli applauded Richter for his performance. “You were on time. It’s a miracle!” he said. Inaba told Richter, “That was really good.” Chu noted that Wicked is about being the underdog and told Richter he was “proud” of how much the comedian had evolved since the beginning of the season. Richter and Slater earned their first 7s, with a single 6 from Hough.

Elaine Hendrix — 36/40

Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten left the ballroom speechless with their contemporary to “Defying Gravity.” They elevated their emotional performance with Hendrix being lifted high into the air as she channeled Elphaba. The routine left Bersten and Inaba in tears. “You really are defying the odds,” Hough said, before adding that Hendrix moved with “such grace and wisdom.” Chu raved, “That was pure ascension.” Hendrix and Bersten earned all 9s from the judges.

Jen Affleck — 32/40

Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik hit the ballroom with a foxtrot to “As Long as You’re Mine” after a rough week when Affleck was sick. Chu praised Affleck’s “commitment” to pushing herself despite the struggles. Tonioli told Affleck that her “flow of movement is improvement” and gave her notes for future performances. Affleck and Ravnik received 8s across the board from the judges.

Danielle Fishel — 36/40

Danielle Fishel and Pasha Pashkov channeled all the intensity with their Argentine tango to “No Good Deed.” Tonioli pointed out that Fishel and Pashkov had the “most difficult song to choreograph” and loved the “fantastic style and placement.” Inaba declared this Fishel’s “breakthrough” moment. Hough was stunned by the difficulty level of the routine. “That was magnificent,” he said. The pair earned 9s from all the judges for a total of 36 — their best scores yet!

Jordan Chiles — 39/40

Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa ended the night with a sexy rumba to “For Good.” Tonioli stood up and told Chiles her performance was “wickedly good and drop dead gorgeous.” Inaba called the routine “perfection” and said Wicked Night was her “favorite night of all seasons ever.” Hough was impressed but told Chiles he wanted to see more emotion moving forward. Chiles and Sosa received 10s from three judges and a single 9 from Hough.
