It Is A Long-Standing Tradition For The Budweiser Clydesdales To Be Part Of The St. Louis Cardinals’ Opening Day Celebrations

The iconic Budweiser Clydesdales have been part of the St. Louis Cardinals’ Opening Day festivities since the 1970s, and they are continuing the tradition this year!

According to Major League Baseball’s website, Anheuser-Busch purchased the Cardinals in 1953, but they didn’t bring the Clydesdales into the stadium for Opening Day for 20 years. Not only do they make an appearance, but they also pull the famous red wagon around the field for a lap to much fanfare!

The stadium was literally redesigned so the Clydesdales and the wagon could enter through the right-field gates, so they knew it would be a long-standing tradition!

This season’s Opening Day took place on Thursday, March 26th, and the Cardinals’ social media accounts confirmed that the Clydesdales would take place at 2:30 PM local time.
