Jenny Marrs Shares Change in Travel Plans Following Family Loss
On April 6, Jenny took to her Instagram Stories to share another familyâs post about their spring break vacation.
The note to âTravel with your people while the window is open,â really spoke to Jenny.
âI loved this travel recap and this wise note to âtravel with your people while the window is open,’â Jenny noted.
She continued, âWe planned a trip back to Normandy with Daveâs parents (my parents came the first time and we collectively convinced his parents that it is the most significant and life-changing place we have ever visited) but werenât able to go because of his momâs health.â
âSo we are taking his dad this summer. It will certainly be bittersweet,â the HGTV star added. âItâll be hard and sad and also worth it.â
In a July 2023 Instagram post, Dave shared their travel experience. âToday we toured the cemetery, beaches, and cliffs of Normandy. To say it was powerful is an understatement,â he explained in the caption. âThe soldiers who stormed the beaches of Utah and Omaha. The rangers who climbed and fell from the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc. The paratroopers who jumped into a black sky not knowing where they would land.â
He added, âThey all did this for something greater than themselves. You can feel the gravity of it in all of these sacred places. I feel honored to be an American! I am so proud of the sacrifices made by those before us. If you have a chance to go to Normandy, please do.â
On September 20, 2025, Dave shared a tribute to his mother, writing in part, âMy mom, Donna Marrs, has lost her fight with dementia, but is now singing and dancing with angels.â
Dave & Jenny Marrs Celebrate âHopeâ Amid Loss
On April 5, Jenny took took to Instagram to share highlights of the familyâs Easter, noting how they continued her grandmotherâs traditions.
âEaster Sunday is about redemption and new life and Hope. And, I will never stop holding on to the Hope,â she wrote.
Jenny continued, âWe kept all of Nanaâs Easter traditions alive, including her infamous egg toss (no one was hit in the face with an egg this year so we consider that a win đ), and, while every âfirstâ without her feels significant and heavy, there is still gratitude and joy in abundance.â
âWe can celebrate this day because of the promise that Jesus gave us with His resurrection â we will be together in Paradise for Eternity,â she added. âThat is certainly worth celebrating. Happy Easter to you all, friends!â
