Heather Rae El Moussa Shares Surprising Update on Marriage to Tarek El Moussa 💍

Heather Rae El Moussa got candid about how she and her husband, Tarek El Moussa, work to keep their marriage strong.

Heather and Tarek tied the knot in 2021, after which Heather became a stepmom to his daughter, Taylor, 15, and son, Brayden, 10, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Christina Haack. The couple went on to welcome their first child together, son Tristan, in 2023. Heather recently opened up about a major step she and Tarek have taken in their relationship.

“Tarek and I are in couples therapy, which I’m not ashamed to say. I think people are shocked to hear that,” she shared in an interview with Fox News Digital published on Wednesday, October 22. “I think couples therapy, and therapy in general, can be a beautiful thing. You learn a lot about each other, yourself, past traumas, past childhood issues that were unresolved and that you bring into your marriage.”

She added, “In the end, we’re two completely different people that are just trying to grow together, grow individually, raise happy, healthy little humans, and be the best versions of ourselves.”

Heather pointed out that in “creating a healthy partnership,” there will always be “ebbs and flows.” She continued, “Everyone starts out like, ‘Oh, this is going to be perfect, we’re going to be a happy little family.’ And a lot of real-life stuff comes into play, and hard things come into play, and you have to learn how to just forgive, communicate, have fun together.”

Heather went on to note that “the most important thing” for her and Tarek “is to just have fun together and remember why you got married.” She gushed, “Tarek and I are true best friends in the end. And we might have our little differences and our issues, but we communicate through them and it can make you stronger in the end.”

Heather shared the relationship update one day before celebrating her and Tarek’s fourth wedding anniversary via Instagram.

“To my honey. We’ve had such a full life together already. Life can be hard, marriage can be hard. And I do know there will be ups and there will be downs but it is also so beautiful to be in this life with you as my partner,” she wrote alongside a montage of clips of herself and Tarek on October 23. “I love you and I’m so excited to keep growing and learning together to be the best versions of ourselves. And to raise our beautiful family together, and learn from our mistakes together.”

She concluded her post by writing, “Thank you for inspiring me, guiding me, working SO hard for our family & loving us so deeply. I love you!! Happy 4 year anniversary lovey. Me & You 🤍.”

Tarek, meanwhile, commemorated their anniversary by sharing a clip he filmed of himself moments before he popped the question in 2020. “Hello, honey! I guess you’re gonna be watching this video a little bit later, but I’m here on the beach right now, looking at the venue I’ve got set up for us because I’m about to ask you to marry me right here on this beach,” he said in the Instagram video. “So, this is my selfie video to you, so that you know you are my best friend in the world. I know you’re getting ready right now, and I love you more than anything, and you saved me, you changed me.”
