But exciting things are still in the pipeline including surprises, special guests and more.

Jon Stewart, Steven Spielberg, David Bryne and Brice Springsteen are all set to appear on the show this week.

Stephen will also be reversing the roles on one of the show’s favorite segments, “Colbert Questionert”.

The rapid-fire question segment usually sees guests scrabbling for answers.

However, this time Stephen himself will be answering, with the special guests asking him the questions.

The guests who will be quizzing Stephen haven’t been named, leaving more surprises yet to come.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s timeslot will be immediately filled on May 22 by Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen, followed by the comedy game show Funny You Should Ask.

Fans have been expecting the series’ end since CBS announced the retirement of the entire Late Show franchise in July.

“This is all just going away,” Stephen told his studio audience about the cancellation.

Leaders at Paramount Global and CBS stated that the decision was “purely financial” and not a reflection of the show’s performance.

The show took home two major awards at the Emmys in September after amassing 33 nominations and zero wins.
