Chip and Joanna Gaines have a big job ahead of them on âFixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House,â as the HGTV stars make major renovations to the home. Find out how Chip tackles one demo task without hesitation as soon as Joanna gives the go-ahead.
Chip Gaines Takes Matters Into His Own Hands
On December 8, People shared an exclusive look at âFixer Upper: Colorado Mountain Houseâ that showed Chip and Joanna taking stock of what to renovate in the house.
In the clip, Joanna notes, âSo, the railing goes ⊠â
Chip immediately springs into action. After asking, âThis railing goes?â and getting a confirmation from Jo, he suddenly kicks at it.
She backs up as he struggles to loosen the stair railing, cautioning him, âBaby, donât fall down the stairs.â
The task needs more than a well-placed foot kick, however, as Chip then starts moving the piece back and forth to break it free.
Joanna leaves, telling her husband, âI donât want to be a part of this.â
Chip finally gets the railing loose and throws it down the stairs. Joanna tells him, âUnbelievable.â
In a talking head interview, Chip notes, âIâm glad I got to demo that stair rail. That really felt great.â
âIt wasnât like demo at all. It was like dem-meh,â he joked.
Chip Gaines Calls His Approach to Home Renovating âDangerousâ
In a December 5 video posted on the Magnolia Network Instagram, Chip explains how he has a much different approach to home renovations than Joanna.
Based on the way he spontaneously got to work knocking down the stair railing, itâs clear that he isnât quite as measured in his approach.
The caption explained, âSheâs the logic and heâs the leap of faith. Together? A perfect balance!â
In the video, Chip explains, âShe only wants to do things that were decorative and logical. And I only want to do things that are illogical and sort of, like, dangerous.â
Fans flooded the comments section, noting how much they love the way Chip and Joanna balance out one another.
Watch Chip and Joanna renovate a 1960s property into a vacation home for their family in the three-part series âFixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House,â premiering December 9 at 9 p.m. ET on Magnolia Network and HGTV.
âColorado has come to be a special place for our family,â Joanna said in a press release from the network. âAnd somewhere in-between ski trips and spring breaks over the last decade, a dream took root to one day carve out a place of our own.â
She added, âWhile taking âFixer Upperâ out of state meant we were in for a steep learning curve, our hope is that this home would far outlast us, and we canât wait to share it with you.â
