Dave and Jenny Marrs shared some thoughts on a recent emotional HGTV âFixer to Fabulousâ episode. Jenny wiped away tears as she opened up about the cabin they renovated for their dear neighbors who unexpectedly passed away.
Jenny Marrs Gets Emotional While Talking About Bob & Jillâs Cabin
On December 23, Jenny and Dave took to Instagram to share some insight about the âFixer to Fabulousâ episode that was airing that evening.
The episode synopsis notes, âDave and Jenny buy a $5,000 lakeside cabin to renovate into a cozy retreat for beloved family friends. But, when an unexpected and devastating tragedy strikes their family, the Marrs must completely pivot their plan.â
âWe just wanted to talk about tonightâs episode. This one is a really, really personal one,â Jenny shared. âThis one we get to share about our dear friend and neighbor, Mr. Bob.â
She continued, âIâm sad because Bob and Jill went to South Africa for three months ⊠before they left, we didnât have time to film him going to see the property because our crew wasnât in town.â
Bob did, however, see the property with Dave. The HGTV star called the condition of the home ârough.â
He noted, âBob trusted us and said, âHey, this is a space I want to create for me and Jill where we can spend time out here with us, with your kids,â which were basically his grandkids.â
âBasically, Jill and Bob, they got married. She moved into his place ⊠this was something that was going to be for them,â the couple explained.
Jenny noted, âBut he saw it, and he saw the vision. Even though it was really rough.â
âWe asked him about doing the project as part of the show and he was so excited because he loved being a part of the show,â she added.
Jenny held back tears as she explained that the project âwas a hard one.â She noted, âNever happened to us before where we were in the middle of the project and Bob actually passed away.â
The HGTV star went on to talk about the timing of the episode airing âright before Christmas.â
âItâs crazy because he passed the week of Easter, and now the showâs airing tonight, the week of Christmas. And I donât understand why we did this project this season, like why couldnât we have done it last year for him?â she wondered.
âI donât know ⊠I donât understand the timing but I have to believe that thereâs a reason for it,â the HGTV star said. âAnd I have to believe that thereâs other people that are gonna watch and feel hope because theyâre grieving in this season as well.â
âI just hope that this episode can be hopeful and joyful and a reminder that this earth isnât our home,â she said as she wiped away the tears. âAnd that the reason we celebrate Christmas is because of Jesus and because of eternity and because we get to see those people that we love so much again.â
Jenny added, âThe timing is crazy, but I also think that thereâs a purpose in it and maybe someday weâll better understand it. This is a hard one but itâs also a fun project. It turns out to be really a sweet place for our family that weâve been able to enjoy.â
