As the search for Nancy Guthrie ramps up, the Pima County Sheriffâs Department is executing a search warrant on a house in Rio Rico, Arizona, on Tuesday evening.
CNN confirmed the report after a man was detained in connection to Guthrieâs disappearance.
The Pima County Sheriffâs Department released a statement regarding the detained individual, saying, âEarlier today, Pima County Sheriffâs Department deputies detained a subject during a traffic stop south of Tucson.â
âThe subject is currently being questioned in connection to the Nancy Guthrie investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available,â the department added.
Person Detained in Nancy Guthrie Case
CNN confirmed the traffic stop that resulted in a subjectâs detention occurred in Rio Rico, a town about an hour south of Tucson, Arizona, and just nine miles from the Mexican border.
According to TMZ, the detained individual is not a relative of Nancy Guthrie.
While the person has not been charged, ABC News confirmed âthereâs no indication that the person who was detained is the figure seen in the newly released video footage.â
The Latest in Nancy Guthrieâs Disappearance
Tuesday morning, the Pima County Sheriffâs Department released photos and videos obtained from Guthrieâs doorbell camera. The images shows a masked individual seemingly tampering with the camera in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 1âthe day Guthrie was reported missing.
âWe believe she is still alive. Bring her home,â Savannah Guthrie pleaded as she reshared the suspectâs photos.
She added, âSomeone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.â
FBI Director Kash Patel announced, âLaw enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrieâs front door the morning of her disappearance.â
FBI presence multiplied in the neighborhood of Nancy Guthrieâs daughter, Annie Guthrie, and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, in the hours after the release of the Nest data.
âLaw enforcement is going door to door around the neighborhood of Nancy Guthrieâs other daughter, Annieâs home. There is at least one official here with the Pima County Sheriffâs department and another person with the FBI,â reporter Jacob Owens shared via X from the scene.
Reporter Brian Entin, who has been on the scene in Tucson since Guthrie was first reported missing, later revealed, âThe FBIâs elite hostage rescue team is in Tucson, sources tell me.â
