David Campbell shares emotional update on Magda Szubanski amid cancer battle
David CampbellĀ and his wife Lisa have shared an emotional update on beloved Australian TV personalityĀ Magda SzubanskiĀ amid her ongoing battle with cancer.
Speaking on theĀ StellarĀ podcast,Ā Something To Talk About, David and Lisa opened up on Magdaās health.
āSheās talked about the fact thatĀ having that outpouring of emotion and the support that sheās felt has been instrumentalĀ in her getting through everything,ā Lisa shared. āI canāt speak for her own personal health,Ā but sheās an incredible person. And we are so, we are so fortunate to have her in our lives.ā
David added, āShe laughs at everything. SheĀ laughs at us. She laughs at herself. And she made us laugh at the cancer with her. And they say laughter is the best medicine. Itās kind of true. It doesĀ make people feel better.ā
Magda has continued to share video updates throughout her journey and while undergoing treatment.
In a video message on 31 August, theĀ Kath & KimĀ star gave a shoutout to a primary school student who dressed up as Sharon Strzelecki for book week.
āThis is a special shoutout to little 10-year-old Annabella Willis in Adelaide,ā the comedian said in the video.
āI just want to say, darling, thank you so much for your āimpressionationā of Sharon Strzelecki,ā she continued. āIām in here having chemo and it really cheered me up and Iām very touched and that was a beautiful thing to do.ā
TheĀ Full FrontalĀ star isĀ undergoing chemotherapyĀ for stage four Mantle Cell Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive blood cancer.
In July, she posted a video on her Instagram page showing fans the new Lego Land Rover she was sent by the company.
āHaving cancer is not all bad because look⦠Lego Land Rover! I am such an 11-year-old boy trapped in a 64-year-old lesbianās body,ā she joked in the video. āThe upside of cancer ā it aināt all bad! Thank you Lego for my new Lego Land Rover Classic Defender.ā
āThis will keep me busy for a bit. Tricky with chemo induced numbness in fingertips but⦠Iāve planned ahead and ordered a building kit with pliers and finger protectors!! GOOD TIMES!!! Now all I need is a Lego Queen Elizabeth II to pop in the driverās seat.ā

Fans were quick to flood the comment section with messages of support.
āThe one thing chemo hasnāt taken away from you is your spirit and your sense of humour, Magda,ā one person wrote. āYou rock, youāve got this x.ā
āYou make us all laugh even as weāre horrified at the ordeal youāre enduring. Thank you Magda, we donāt deserve you or your kindness and generosity,ā said someone else.
āLove and best wishes to you. This is temporary and you will make this journey and come through it to make us laugh once again,ā added a third.
In May, theĀ Kath and KimĀ star announced she had been diagnosed with the rare blood cancer in a video posted toĀ Instagram.
āHello my lovelies. So, the head is shaved in anticipation of it all falling out in a couple of weeks because I have just been diagnosed with a very rare, very aggressive, very serious lymphoma,ā she started the video.
āIt is one of the nasty ones, unfortunately. But the good thing is Iām surrounded by beautiful friends and family and an incredible medical support team,ā she continued. āHonestly, we have the best in the world here in Australia, particularly inĀ Melbourne, so I feel very fortunate.ā
āItās pretty confronting. It is a full on one. But new treatments keep coming down the pipeline all the time.ā

In the caption, Magda shared that the cancer was discovered because her lymph nodes were up during a routine breast cancer screening.
āIāve been feeling pretty ratshit for ages,ā she said. āSo I asked for extra bloods and ā voila! So the takeaway is ā get tested and listen to your body!ā
The comedian also told fans she would be laying low while sheās undergoing the treatment.
āSo if you see me out and about ā donāt hug me, kiss me, or breathe anywhere near me! Wave enthusiastically from a safe distance and know I love you madly.ā
