Drew Scott Teases ‘Charming and Dangerous’ Role in ‘Murdoch Mysteries’ Finale

Drew Scott is stepping back into his acting roots with an exciting new role that showcases a different side of the “Property Brothers” star.
The HGTV favorite will guest star in the season 19 finale of “Murdoch Mysteries,” set to air on Monday, April 13, according to an exclusive with PEOPLE.
All About Scott’s Role
In the episode, Scott takes on the role of Cecil Winchester—a character he describes as “charming and a little dangerous.”
Offering a preview of what fans can expect, Scott hinted that Cecil brings more than just charisma to the screen.
“He’s sad, he’s looking for change,” he teased per the outlet. “Maybe he could be the best addition to Murdoch’s team, so maybe he’s gonna come back in the future. Maybe he could help Murdoch figure out some of these issues. He’s only lived in New York for six months. It’s an easy move to come to Toronto, why not?”
Scott didn’t hold back when describing his character’s appeal, adding, “I think he’ll find more things he likes in Toronto if he makes the move. I would say that Cecil is probably the most charming, sexy guy to just come into the world of Murdoch as of late. This was amazing. I had so much fun.”
The guest appearance marks a notable moment for Scott, who originally pursued acting before becoming a household name through his work in real estate and television alongside his brother.
While he rose to fame on HGTV, returning to scripted television has always been part of his long-term passion.
“Acting has always been my first love, and I’m excited for people to see a different side of me,” Scott shared in a statement.
Scott Was Excited About the New Role
His appearance on the long-running Canadian drama is also meaningful on a personal level.
Scott revealed that he has known series lead Yannick Bisson for years and has long admired the show.
“I’ve admired ‘Murdoch Mysteries’ for years, and getting to step into this world as a character like Cecil Winchester, who is charming and a little dangerous, was a lot of fun,” he said.
“Murdoch Mysteries” has built a global fan base since its debut in 2008, airing in more than 120 countries.
The series follows Detective William Murdoch as he solves crimes using innovative forensic techniques, blending historical storytelling with modern investigative ideas.
Scott’s role as Cecil Winchester could potentially extend beyond a one-time appearance, with the star himself teasing the possibility of a return.
For now, fans can look forward to seeing him in a fresh, unexpected light—proving that even after years in unscripted television, Scott hasn’t lost his passion for acting.
