A ‘Wicked’ Return to ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Before Wicked Night got started, the former “Dancing With the Stars” professional dancer recorded an Instagram video and shared it with his followers regarding his return to the ballroom.

Van Amstel was sitting with his pal Mary-Margaret Humes, as you could see him taking in the sights. Things were getting ready to kick off for the night, but the pair had a front row seat for the first 10s of the season.

Louis captioned the video, “Back in the ballroom with my bestie for a ‘Wicked’ good time. He clearly has a favorite couple for “Dancing With the Stars” season 34. He urged his followers to vote for Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten multiple times during the video.

Fans React to His Return

While van Amstel was only in the ballroom as a spectator, many of his fans were hoping to see him return to the dance floor in the future.

One person commented, “So glad to see you back in the ballroom but I wish you were Dancing!!!!!!” Another fan added, “I sure wish you were dancing. You’re my favorite.”

Louis’ Time on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Van Amstel is one of the original pro dancers on “DWTS.” He spent a total of 11 seasons on the show. His last time lacing up the dance shoes was for season 32, when he was partnered with Cheryl Ladd. They were eliminated during week 3.

While on the show, van Amstel was never able to capture a Mirrorball Trophy. His best finish was with Kelly Osbourne during season 9, where they finished in third place.

He was not asked back after competing in season 31. During an episode of the “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans” podcast in November 2023, Louis said he still wanted “to be part of” the show and he wanted “to go back.” He continued, “I love that show.”
