HGTV’s David Bromstad Helps Client Honor Her Late Mom in Heartfelt Moment

David Bromstad’s “My Lottery Dream Home” has been full of heartfelt moments between him and his clients — and season 19, episode 11, on Jan. 23, was no different.
When clients Lexi and her husband, Ken, applied to be on the hit HGTV show, they had the intention of honoring her late mom by purchasing a lake house in Chicago, Ill., where Lexi believes she and her mom would have enjoyed making memories together.
David Bromstad Left Speechless by Client’s Gift
The story of the home buyer’s mom, who passed away over a year ago, hit home with Bromstad when she gifted him with a vintage sterling silver Mickey Mouse ring from the collection that was handed down to her.
The “My Lottery Dream Home” host was speechless as his client explained the depth of its meaning.
“This was my mom’s, and it’s for you,” Lexi said as she handed Bromstad a jewelry box. “Stop… really?” the HGTV star said as he went to open the gift.
When Bromstad took his first glimpse at the ring, his jaw immediately hit the floor. Overcome with emotion, he told his client, “This is really cool. Thank you so much. That’s a lot. She had great taste.”
Lexi explained how the ring wasn’t her style and that as a collector of vintage jewelry himself, her mom would have wanted him to have it. “It’s too blingy for me. It’s Mickey; do you see it’s Mickey?” she said.
Lexi also shared with Bromstad that her mom was a diehard fan of his show, making the touching moment between them one she’ll never forget.
“Over a year ago, my mom passed away, and she loved the show. Like, when we would travel together… We would go meet in different places like New York, Grand Canyon, Florida,” she shared. “At night, we would sit around watching HGTV, and your show was her favorite.”
David Bromstad Says Client’s Gift Is an ‘Honor’ to Have
HGTVLexi explained how she once told her mom to apply to be on “My Lottery Dream Home” after she inherited money from her husband’s death, but she was hesitant. Fortunately, Lexi was able to fulfill her mom’s dream.
“It is such an honor to be part of this moment,” Bromstad told Lexi.
By the end of the episode, Bromstad’s client chose a gorgeous lakeside home near the marsh. Lexi explained how the estate reminded her of the house her mom used to live in, so she knew she would have approved.
