Ella Gaines has clearly caught the design bug from her parents! Chip and Joanna Gainesâ eldest daughter helped design the familyâs mountain cottage throughout Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House.
In the December 23 finale, Chip brought the youngest member of the Gaines family, Crew, to see the final product â and have Ella, whoâs been away at college, surprise him. âOh my goodness,â an excited Crew told his mom as he stepped inside the cottage.
When Crew walked into the kitchen, Ella stepped out to show herself. âI missed you!â Crew said as he hugged his big sister. Ella replied, âI missed you, too.â A beaming Chip and Joanna watched this sweet sibling moment from a distance. âItâs so cute,â Joanna gushed.
After countless remodelings, Joanna admitted that this cottage was âprobably my favorite reveal ever.â

The family has spent the last 10 years vacationing in Colorado, but having a permanent second home away from home was the perfect next step for the Gaines crew. âIt just feels like a full circle moment. Seeing the future, but also just sitting in it now presently. It feels like such a gift, and I canât wait for all thatâs to come,â Joanna noted.
The mom-of-five recently opened up about her familyâs new chapter and putting down roots in The Centennial State. âWith the kids getting older and going off to colleges in different directions, we kind of loved the idea of having a central place where we could all gather together, a place with all the same comfort and intention and care as the farmhouse in Waco,â she wrote for Magnolia Journal.
