GTV may have canceled Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson‘s show, “Married to Real Estate,” but the couple is thriving. Sherrod shared an update on life after the cancellation, saying, “We are out here living our best lives.” See what they’re up to lately!
Egypt Sherrod & Mike Jackson Share They’re ‘Living Our Best Lives’
On October 18, Sherrod gave a quick update for fans, sharing on an EntertainmentNow Facebook post, “Don’t believe everything you read. We are fine and happy!”
Her update was met with an outpouring of love, with one fan writing, “Fantastic News! Keep up the great work! We love your show.”
Others noted, “Wishing you both were still on, love your shows … such great design,” “Miss y’all! Loved your show and your design style so much,” and “Best designs on TV!! Love you both!!”
“I am glad to hear your are. I hope we have another opportunity to see you on your own show again,” another fan wrote.
On October 10, Sherrod took to Instagram to give fans a look at some of the fun they’ve been up to, highlighting their ride on the Maid of the Mist boat tour during a trip to Niagara Falls.
“We are out here living our best lives,” she noted in the caption. “For years, Mike and I have had a bucket list of the places we wanted to go and see with the kids. Some we took for granted because they were right here in the US.”
Sherrod added, “Just a quick 2 hour flight to Canada and we were right at the heart of the falls. It’s a wonderful weekend getaway! Make memories over material things.”
Sherrod Called HGTV Experience ‘An Amazing Roller Coaster Ride’
In an October 2025 interview with People, Sherrod and Jackson detailed some of the “obstacles” they were up against ahead of HGTV’s decision to cancel “Married to Real Estate.”
Sherrod explained, “There were some obstacles that we faced as a family and as television hosts in that, historically, there had not been a show with an African American family on HGTV that had gone more than one season.”
Sherrod also noted how they were impacted when the show’s production team changed. “We weren’t listened to and it felt like [we were] not necessarily respected the same,” she explained. “But they were all different players — not one single person from season 1, 2 or 3 was left.”
Additionally there were production delays that Sherrod said “threw us into dark weeks … That means production shuts down.”
Jackson shared that rumors about their marriage were also in the mix. “From a fan standpoint, another monkey wrench in it all was false articles flying all over the place about us separating,” he said. “We were like, ‘Where’s this coming from? Because we’re still deeply in love and having fun and traveling.’”
He added, “So you’ve got all the exec changes, you don’t know what time slot and then you’ve got the fans reading articles that aren’t true.”
Overall, Sherrod called their experience “an amazing roller coaster ride.”
“We have no regrets, we lead with love and we leave with love,” she added.
