A nine-year-old surprised his grandad in front of hundreds as he took to the stage of Britain’s Got Talent. The competition returned to screens this year for a spectacular 19th series of one of the nation’s favourite Saturday night TV programmes. Judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon returned to the judging panel, this time joined by social media sensation KSI.

Ant and Dec have also returned for their all-important presenting roles, welcoming a fresh batch of hopeful contestants hoping to win the hearts of the nation and perform at the prestigious Royal Variety Show.

Viewers watched tonight, Saturday, April 18 as singer Lucciano came on stage with his family expecting him to sing alone. However, the youngster had a surprise up his sleeves for his family sitting in the crowd.

The nine-year-old said: “Singing (for me) started when my mum and dad went to work and my grandad and nan looked after me. My grandad went to care homes to sing and I liked singing with him, so I would love it if he would sing with me today.”

Grandad Frankie was then brought up on stage and the two were allowed some time backstage to prepare. Frankie could be seen in shock with judge Amanda offering him some water for his throat. The two came back on stage, full of confidence, singing a jazz version of One Direction’s History.

Alicia said the pair’s relationship was “beautiful and the singing is the icing on the cake.” The pair got four yeses from the judges and a thunderous applause, ending tonight’s episode.

It comes after last week when the ITV Britain’s Got Talent judges were taken aback by a rapper’s bold lyrics. Ren DMC delivered a performance that was “never been seen before” by roasting the panel with sharp jokes in a musical format.

Ren DMC, a youth worker from East London, promised he would be the first to deliver a performance like his on the show, though it was unknown at the time what to expect. The judges initially welcomed the rapper’s confidence but were soon taken aback by his lyrics.

The performance began as an ode to the show with the audience singing along. Ren DMC moved on to serenading Alesha Dixon with compliments before calling the band she was in during the noughties, Mis-Teeq, a cheaper version of the Spice Girls.

Shocked by the insult, Alesha jolted forward in her seat and said: “What did he say?” Ren DMC went on to say KSI was unable to make a hit in his music career and he’s the worst thing to happen to rap since Ant and Dec.

Simon was immune from the rapper’s sharp lyrics and received a series of tongue-in-cheek compliments in a bid to progress to the next round.

Despite stepping into potentially dangerous territory with the nature of the song, the judges loved the singer’s bold and hilarious performance regardless.

Alesha said: “That was really unexpected and really funny.” Simon said: “I loved that. That was so funny. It was brilliant.” Amanda said: “That was not what I was expecting. I loved it.”

KSI was the only judge to press his buzzer, but he admitted he found humour in the rapper’s performance regardless. Amanda, Alesha and Simon issued Ren DMC with positive news, pushing the talent through to the next round.
