Jonathan Bailey sent flowers to Wicked superfan Robert Irwin
Robert Irwin has gotten his flowers – literally – from actor Jonathan Bailey after doing a Wicked dance number on US reality TV.
Millions of Americans are watching the 21-year-old Aussie compete on Dancing With The Stars over there.
This week, Robert Irwin and his dance partner Witney Carson performed a jazz routine to Dancing Through Life for DWTS’s Wicked-themed night.
Robert dressed as Prince Fiyero, Jonathan Bailey’s character in the 2024 Wicked film and upcoming sequel, Wicked: For Good.
Today Robert Irwin shared a video to Instagram capturing the moment he received a special special from the actor during DWTS rehearsal.
In the clip, Robert’s dance partner Witney Carson walks in holding a large bouquet of flowers for him.
“Who are these from?” he asks. “Oh my goodness, they’re gorgeous.”
Carson jokes, “Do you have a secret admirer that I don’t know about?”
Robert Irwin reads the card to find out, and his jaw hits the floor.
“You are the shiz, Robert. You’ve done all the Fiyeros proud. Cheering you on from afar. Big love, JB,” the Wicked star wrote.
“This has made my day! Thank you so much, Jonathan!” Robert said.
“You wanna put those down so we can rehearse or are you just gonna…?” Carson asks him before he shouts, “No!”
The Aussie wrote on Instagram, “Thank you so much @jbayleaf … What a cool surprise, it was an honour to play Fiyero for the night!”
Turns out Robert Irwin is a big fan of Wicked, admitting on the last episode of Dancing With The Stars that he even rented out a theater to watch the film for his 21st birthday last year.
That episode, the pair scored nines across the board, ending the night with a 36/40.
Wicked: For Good is out soon
Wicked: For Good is opening in Australian cinemas on November 20, and it’ll be the queer movie event of the year.
Earlier in the week, director Jon M. Chu announced that out actor Colman Domingo is voicing the Cowardly Lion in the sequel.
