Jonathan Scott & Zooey Deschanel’s Latest Wedding Update
Jonathan and Deschanel are currently enjoying a long engagement, so questions about when they will get married often pop up.
In an October 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Jonathan gave the latest wedding update and his brother playfully teased that the couple are busy with other activities.
“We don’t have any updates yet,” Jonathan shared. “We are the worst at planning that. We’re great at planning other parties.”
Drew joked, “You don’t have time for a wedding. You’re throwing Halloween parties, you’re on [Habitat for Humanity] builds … “
Jonathan added, “Exactly. But we will figure it out.”
The brothers discussed the 39th Annual Habitat for Humanity Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, with Jonathan noting how inspiring it is to “see complete strangers working side by side, people from the local community.”
He continued, “Habitat is not just gifting houses. Habitat is working alongside homeowners to build their own home, and then those same homeowners pitch in to build their neighbor’s home and the whole community.”
“So this is a remarkable organization that really stretches those dollars around. But for the build site, when you walk on here, you don’t have to have any experience at all,” Jonathan added. “You can just show up and there’s something for everybody to do.”
Jonathan & Zooey Know They Want an Intimate Wedding
Jonathan and Deschanel got engaged in August 2023 after dating for four years.
In an August 2025 interview with People, the HGTV star gave an update on their wedding plans. “We’ve just been having so much fun traveling with the kids and filming this show [‘Chasing the West’] and stuff,” he said at the time.
He added, “So no, we have not actually made any plans yet, which, it’s been two years now since I proposed.”
Jonathan did drop one clue about their wedding, even though they don’t have a wedding date set. “Whatever we do, it has to be meaningful to us and we want to gather our friends and family and have a good time,” he shared.
The HGTV star added, “We want to keep it very, very intimate.”
On August 4, Jonathan took to Instagram to celebrate his “meetiversary” with Deschanel. “This is a special day for us! @zooeydeschanel you’re the best 🥰,” he wrote in the caption.
In the video, Jonathan shared, “It is the anniversary of when Zooey and I first met for the very first time. August 4, 2019. It was actually filming ‘Carpool Karaoke.’”
Deschanel, her sister Emily, Jonathan, and Drew filmed the show together. “We had so much fun. Zooey and I hit it off right away and they actually had us come back a couple of years later and do a ‘Where Are They Now,’ just the two of us,” the HGTV star said.
Jonathan continued, “But this is a day that I love to celebrate. It’s our meetiversary … we hit it off so fast and have had so much fun. And, even a couple of years ago — I’ve got to pick it up — we got engaged atop Edinburgh Castle.”
