Egypt Sherrod & Mike Jackson Flooded With Fan Support After Emmy Awards: ‘Thank You Family’

Days after “Married to Real Estate” stars Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson shocked fans with the news that their HGTV series had not been renewed for another season, the couple was stunned and thrilled to learn the show had been nominated for an Emmy Award.
On October 17, 2025, Sherrod and Jackson attended the 52nd annual Daytime Emmys in Los Angeles with high hopes for a win in the Outstanding Instructional/How-To Program category. But they had some fierce competition, including another couple with HGTV ties — Joanna and Chip Gaines, nominated for their limited series “Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse,” which aired on their Magnolia Network and on HGTV.
In the end, the Gaines took home the prize, but Sherrod and Jackson have already shared with fans how grateful they’ve been for the experience, and fans have rallied around them with support.

Fans flooded Sherrod’s post with messages of support and disappointment, as many had hoped for a moment of redemption for the couple following their show’s surprising cancellation. It was one of seven series not renewed by HGTV over the summer.
One fan wrote, “Egypt!!!! You and Mike looked absolutely stunning!!!! Best dressed what?!!!!! ”
Another declared, “You already WON! Keep shining! You both are incredible & you inspire so many of us!
Someone else commented, “Definitely best dressed couple! Love seeing Black Excellence and Black Love! You two are awesome! ”

Joanna Gaines Celebrated Team for Winning Emmy
The Gaines didn’t attend the Emmy Awards ceremony, but members of their production team at Blind Nil were in attendance. After their win, Joanna shared their winning post in her Instagram Stories and wrote, “So proud of our #fixerupper team! We won an Emmy!”
“Fixer Upper” originated on HGTV in April 2014 and instantly became a huge hit, as the Gaines renovated homes in Waco, Texas, and has since inspired many other shows featuring couples fixing up run-down houses in their hometowns.
The show turned the Gaines into media moguls; they now oversee over a dozen businesses, per Variety, a successful magazine, a product line at Target, and their own cable channel, Magnolia Network. Their channel is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, which also owns HGTV, so the two networks do occasional crossovers, including airing “Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse” on both channels in 2024.
