HGTV’s Jasmine Roth Delights Fans With the Most Adorable Bedroom Design for Her Daughter👩‍👧‍👧 — Pure Magic and Heartfelt Touches Everywhere

Jasmine Designs Her Daughters’ Bedrooms

When Jasmine Roth, host of HGTV’s Help! I Wrecked My Housemoved her family of four from Southern California to a new home in Park City, Utah, her first order of business was designing her daughters’ rooms. “This move has been a dramatic change for our family,” Jasmine tells HGTV. “Finishing my girls’ rooms and seeing them happy and healthy in their own rooms was the moment I felt like we were finally getting settled.” Ahead, step inside Jasmine’s oldest daughter Hazel’s sweet vintage-style bedroom.

Fun and Whimsy All in One

As Jasmine describes it, Hazel was her toughest client yet. “Ha! Seriously though, I loved working with her, but she had some wild ideas,” says Jasmine. And, like most kids, Hazel’s imagination wasn’t bound by realistic expectations — which made her vision extra challenging, and also extra fun, for Jasmine. The resulting space is a whimsical representation of what can happen when a 5-year-old is the client and her mom is DIY extraordinaire Jasmine Roth.

Playroom or Bedroom?

Of Hazel’s many ideas, one was definite: The room must have a slide. And so, the white oak structure Jasmine and her family call “the fort” was born — complete with an arched door to enter, a top bunk bed, stairs and an attached slide. On the ceiling above the fort, Jasmine had a custom-made loft net installed. The net was engineered in Europe and holds up to 2,200 pounds — so kids (and adults!) can safely hang out, suspended above the ground. According to Jasmine, adding the net was almost like creating a second room. “We built up instead of out,” she says. “[The lofted net] is the spot to be in our house. Hazel and her cousins have sleepovers up there, and we’ve even had happy hours up there.”

Fort Hazel

Before the renovation, this room felt large to Hazel. She wanted an intimate, personal space — so just through the fort’s arched door, Jasmine created a cozy sanctuary. A pink wrought-iron bed sits next to a scalloped nightstand that displays Hazel’s trinkets and a framed photo of the family. Custom curtains frame the window looking out into the main room. The floral wallpaper (Penelope Wallpaper by Bloomery Decor in pink) was chosen by Hazel and creates a definitively different ambiance inside the fort than the light and airy one outside of it.

Timeless Wood Finishes

The wood in Hazel’s bedroom — used to build the fort, the wardrobe and the window trim — is natural stained white oak, a material Jasmine considers timeless. To get up to the loft net (seen just above the fort), Hazel simply climbs the stairs. “I like the net, because it feels like it lives outside the confines of reality,” says Jasmine. “It feels like something you’d dream up but can’t actually do in real life.”

The Coziest Corner

“Hazel’s room is a little bit vintage and a little bit fun,” Jasmine says. Floral wallpaper (Auggie Wallpaper by Bloomery Decor in sand) envelopes three of the four walls. A cozy, cream-colored sofa creates a comfortable spot to enjoy the view.

How to Make Dry-Erase Bedroom Walls

Yes, Hazel wanted to be able to draw on the walls — and yes, Jasmine figured out a way. “We painted the wall pink, and then added two coats of clear acrylic dry-erase paint,” she says. A mounted full-length wooden mirror complements the room’s neutral pink color palette.

Vintage Details in a Charming Girl’s Bedroom

“[This move] is not just a change in scenery, but a change in how we spend our time,” says Jasmine. “We moved looking for a change, and what we got was a real shock to the system — but in the best way.

“[Hazel’s room] might be one of the coolest I’ve ever designed — or should say, we designed.”
